Kangaroos in town

Just a quick post to share a photo I took on the way home from work on 21 December last year. The light was poor, since it was late, but I pulled over and whipped out the Nokia anyway. These days, I’m usually home before the ‘roos come out to feed, so it was a pleasure to see them again.

From the left, backed by the McIvor Range, the buildings you see are: the scoreboard, the cricket club shed with practice nets, and the swimming pool complex.

Now, I’m off to find and scan some ancient photos I took of a strolling echidna.

Have a good day. 🙂

Isn’t that how the Americans used to picture Australia, Kangaroos running through the main streets. Must admit I do like to see them, at a distance. On the way from Adelaide to Melbourne years ago, at dawn, a Roo decided he wanted to jump over the car (Datsun 260Z) so he could have made it, except for either his tail or back leg, smashed the windscreen & I had to drive into the sun peering through a little 2 inch piece on one side. We decided not to pop out the screen as the kids were asleep in the back and it was freezing, also, don’t know if the hatch would have stayed closed or not.
