new growth on rose bush

Photo taken, just now on my phone, for Jennifer’s One Word Photo Challenge: Carmine.

This is my standard rose tree – much more than a bush. There are two branches from earlier in the year, not yet trimmed, soaring skywards. New growth is sprouting. The leaves will turn green as they age.

From Wikipedia:
Carmine is the general term for some deep red colors that are very slightly purplish but are generally slightly closer to red than the color crimson is.

    • Yeah, I have to Sue, it’s really vigourous! I never got around to cutting two lengths and they are at least 4 feet tall, from the top of the standard join. Nasty thorns, too.
