This juvenile male Hooded Robin is a new-to-me bird, spotted yesterday while out for a walk around the block under dreary skies. Just the three shots before it flew away. Didn’t know what I was looking at, but knew I’d never seen one before. It’s preening in the first shot.

Very little light under the trees, but love the resulting softness of the images.

I’ll pop down there again tomorrow, hopeful. On second thought, I may have seen the black-and-white adult male, while on our travels, but never identified it.

Thanks for looking.

A pair of damp Rainbow Lorikeets, preening in winter sunshine, in an elm tree. I notice the trees are budding, as are the lilac bushes. A few times, I’ve felt a spring-like brush of breeze, but it’s far too early. Perhaps it’s autumn, a-lingering.

Yesterday, with the Nikon D3000, on auto.
