Butterflies & Moths, Sally D's Mobile Photography Challenge

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Macro (Phalaenoides glycinae)

I’ve photographed this pretty Aussie Grapevine Moth (Phalaenoides glycinae) last year, but not managed to so far in 2016 – until today. However, this one was very subdued and jumped on to my hand when I reached for a grape. Sort of puts one off eating the grapes just thinking that one of these moths may have pumped eggs in already!  I did see a tiny caterpillar a few days ago.

I’m tagging these  for Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Macro.

Butterfly: Ocybadistes walkeri sothis

The Yellow-banded Dart  is a skipper butterfly, named for their darting nature. Last year, when I first noticed one, I thought it was a grasshopper whipping by.

Looks like baby darts to the left.

Other names: Greenish Grass-dart, Green Grass-dart, Southern Dart.   The Ocybadistes walkeri sothis is the only sub-species found in Victoria. Also found in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Tasmania.

I was gobsmacked when I saw that this butterfly has FOUR wings!

I’m dishing these up for Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge. The first Monday in the month is Nature. Nearly all my photos are that theme already. Taken with the Nokia Lumia 520 Windows phone, cropped and reduced.

I hope you are having a great weekend.  Thanks for dropping by.   🙂

Abstaction: Pelicans Waiting

It’s ages since I went in Sally D’s mobile photography challenge. And lucky me, this 4th week means I can do almost anything I like.  Next Monday, I must do it on time.

4th Monday Challenger’s Choice (Pick One: Abstraction, Animals, Architecture, Food Photography, Night Photography, Objects, Panorama, Portraiture, Still Life, Street Photography, and Travel).

I’ve chosen Abstraction and used the Nokia Lumia 530 windows phone.

The pelicans are waiting while a fisherman filleted his catch by the boat ramp.

The abstract emotion I hope I have conveyed is the stillness of suppressed excitement.
