Other Stuff

So I forgot to put up a title …

Okay, promise to lay of the politics for at least a week — which will be hard because so much stuff is fanning the fires of my rage since this budg … oops, sorry!

I took photos this morning on my walk, but only one was clear, (but not good) I guess I put my finger on the lens. (:  There is a bit of water pooling in under the footbridge, so I’m looking forward to when it is a raging torrent.  Okay, a bad photo is better than none?

Maybe not.

I promised myself I was going to get stuck into some housework today, I haven’t mopped in an age (but I’m not going to shock you by telling you how long it’s been) and things are getting a bit grungy.

I have a pair of pj pants and 2 flannel shirts to mend. The shirts have waited since last winter. A stitch in time saves nine, so they go away until that stitch. Out of sight, out of mind. “Oh, sweetheart, where did you put those black flannelette shirts? I can’t find them in my drawers.”  He knows, because he puts his own stuff away. “Huh, I’ve been meaning to mend them, honey.” Everyday I mean to mend them.  So, there they sit, freshly laundered (at the risk of turning one stitch to nine, but gave me another day or so grace) waiting.

Right, that’s it. I’ll be back when I’ve mopped all the floors and done that mending. See you in a week.

    • The mending all needs to be done on stress points in the seam, iron on mender would hold it together though. I’ve only got hemming tape at the moment. I’ve mended a favourite dress ( and a skirt) with iron-on stuff, both had a three corner tear in the skirt. Since both were patterned I don’t think anyone else would notice. I’m looking forward to fitting in that dress again!

No, I had to do the floors. You can’t leave them too long if you have a dog in the house. It’s not much more effort to mop once I decobweb the room, wet dust, Mr Sheen, and vacuum. The woodheater makes our dust ashy. Vika heads for the door right away before the vac even comes out, she hates it. I wondered why she was giving me funny look today – I forgot to do the cobwebs before I dusted. She headed off as soon as I got the cobweb broom.

And then I gave her a bath, since I had thrown all the smelly dog blankets in the wash and put out fresh ones.

  1. I’m with you in that I won’t tell how long it’s been since I vacuumed/mopped …. there are some things that just DON’T need to be shared. Ever. 😉

But, unlike Vika, my MacKenzie doesn’t run away when she sees me pulling out the vacuum — she runs and gets her tennis ball for me to bop around with the vacuum so she can chase it. I’ve never had a dog do this, and it makes vacuuming almost fun. (Almost.) 🙂
