I’ve fished through the albums on my PC for some scarlet colours for Jennifer’s One Word Photo Challenge.

I hope you like my photos – I’m comfortable with taking selfies, now. I hated it at first. 🙂
I’m pleased to report a break-through with my novel. I know exactly how it is going to end.
Last night, while sweeping out a couple of toilet cubicles at work, the finale suddenly came together in my head. Excited, I started packing up the car. Then I remembered I still had to clean the workmen’s wash-up sink. I mentioned this to Mr R, and he expressed surprise that I’d cleaned the toilets already. Oops, forgot those too! As soon as I could, I jotted down notes in my phone – not likely to forget, though. Now I’m confident that I will have my novel ready to publish by the end of the year.
I wonder if I will weaken and try the traditional submission process first – just to see what it will be like to get knocked back. Stephen King racked up lots of rejection slips before he made it. I shouldn’t deprive myself of the experience.
You look beautiful Christine, lovely photos! 🙂

I agree with Ba – just lovely ! Makeup and everything ! Crikey ! 😀
As for mainstream publishing: if you were to get anything constructive in knockbacks, it would be a useful exercise. But as, if you WERE to be knocked back, you wouldn’t, such would not be the case. Go self-publishing and we’ll all buy it. It’s a shitload more fun.

I do use a bit of make-up now and then. Long gone are the days when I didn’t step out of the house without it. 🙂 And, yeah, you’re right M-R, about the submission process. I forgot it’s just ‘if you don’t hear from us within [number] of [weeks/months] then we are not interested’. I had a temporary bout of stooopidity!

No, you were thinking like a normal person. But publishers can’t be numbered among them, any more …

I’m tickled pink that you had a writing break through! I know exactly the distraction that causes. They should have a warning sticker on, well, EVERYTHING… for example, “do not operate heavy machinery (or toilet scrubbers) while writing your novel”

I appreciate your comment, Maggie. So true. My head is my character’s playground again, our mutual sulking over. 🙂

I can imagine the excitement in having breakthrough thinking on your novel and wanting to drop everything you’re doing to get at it while the thoughts are swirling around in your head!! Your distraction certainly makes that evident 🙂
Happy writing!!

Great photo’s, your selfies are lovely, looking better all the time. That’s fantastic about the book, have you thought about a mini tape recorder or dictaphone (if they still make them), then you can record anything straight away, while you are working or on your walks.

Hi Sue, I do have a little tape recorder, got it for reading headstone transcriptions because I often couldn’t read my writing and the words weren’t always legible in photos. [smacks forehead] Idiot, I am! I have a record function on my phone, there I was fiddling with typing notes. Brilliant idea, Sue. ❤

God Christine, don’t smack your head too hard, you might jolt something. Yeah I thought about the phone later. Next time you will remember just don’t drop the phone in your excitement.

Lovely photos! I’m still not comfortable taking selfies. I always look so much different than I expect, so major props to you. And congrats on figuring out your novel – I’ve never written a book, but I can imagine what this kind of break through would feel like. I would have been totally distracted too. My dad went the traditional process with his book at first, eventually went through CreateSpace. I think it’s a good character building process for sure. And if someone does decide to publish your book, all the more exciting!!
In any case, thank you for sharing your scarlet. Have a lovely Thursday 🙂

Hello Jennifer, thanks for your encouraging words. I’ll go with Smashwords and CreateSpace. I have heard of publishers picking up self-published books. Good on your dad! As to selfies, it takes a lot of trys to get one that I can live with! 😀

No problem. Good luck, and keep us updated on yout progress. I’ve created covers for an author who uses CreateSpace, Smashwords and Audible and seems really happy with all 3 of them.

I guess Audible is for talking books, I hadn’t thought of that. Not with my voice, though. You do covers, Jennifer? I’m going to do my own. I’m more confident there than with what will be between the covers. 😀

I do. I don’t write though 😛 Impressed that you can do both. I’m looking forward to seeing everything you come up with!

I *think* I can do both. 😀 Oh yes, you will all see my covers after I make them. I couldn’t possibly decide which one to use, on my own!
