This morning heard a lot of screeching overhead – 1 sulphur crested being chased by a magpie & a noisy minah, I think they are the two that usually have breakfast together on my nature strip. Cockie must have intruded. (amazing to watch – they were dead set serious about getting the intruder)
Such an elegant creature. No wonder punkers like to spike their hair for distinction. I had a male cardinal visit as they do infrequently…when they think I am absent. I see them from the window, but they can’t see me. He leaves his mate at home.
Perfect pose – are you sure she/he’s real

Wise move by your magpie and minah, else before you know it more cockies would arrive and start ploughing up your nature strip.

I can never get over that bright red of the cardinal, I hope to see a real one, one day! And against snow, so brilliant. Thanks for sharing Carol Ann.
