A very atmospheric pic Christine! We just had 40 mls of rain which was a great blessing for us here in Southern Tassie. But we need it to be falling on the bush fire area.
We had some of your smoke in Victoria recently. Nature’s way of giving the forests a good clean out. I haven’t been keeping up with the news. Hope it’s made safe.
Wonderful. We had some great rain last night. Had to put a bucket in the back room. There is a leak that we cannot locate. Had a builder up and he couldn’t trace it. Unless
we lift all the tiles it will have to stay like that for now. Beautiful and chilly this morning, though only walked around the corner, didn’t want to be away too long. Will go again later. Next couple of days are supposed to be cloudy, but it doesn’t pay to accept that is what it will be tomorrow.
We’ll have to light the wood-heater when we get home from work tonight. Temperature in the house dropping and we’ll get to burn a stack of bark collected from under the manna gum.
Mum’s place is still warm. Takes a day or two to warm up and the same to cool down.
So much nicer to snuggle down under a blanket at night. Does the bark give off much heat, I would have thought it burnt too quickly to give out much.
It’s usually enough to take the chill off the loungeroom. Rob crams the large firebox full and sometimes has some sticks in with it. But the temperature didn’t drop quite enough to make it worthwhile so it didn’t get lit until Saturday morning. It’s set again now properly, as we’ve caught up with the pile of bark. Amazing just how much the manna gum sheds each year. We had 3/4″ rain overnight!
