The sulphur-crested cockatoo, cruising by, as usual, on our walk today.
Damn near sun-blinded myself following it across the sky with the Nikon D3000!
Fortunately, I closed my eyes in time – and yanked the camera down.
Thanks for looking. Take care.

There’s one squarking outside right now ..
Pity such a handsome bird is so destructive.

It’s never ruined anything of ours, so that’s good. Prune the gum tree out front sometimes, just for fun.

They are really beautiful. Do they blend in much in the forest? Or are they not forest dwellers? My Umbrella cockatoo (not originally from the wild) originates from Indonesia and surrounding areas. Bright white birds don’t seem as though they’re camouflaged in a forest, especially with that squawk!
Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you didn’t blind yourself. I about did the same yesterday trying to see what was flying overhead. 🙂

These birds don’t try to blend in at all! They roost in trees at night, of course, but they’re most often seen in the open paddocks or on the roadsides. They root out onion grass corms this time of the year and get really muddy underneath sometimes.
