Bee Feasting on Dandelions

We have another dreary wet day in store. I thought some pretty bee pictures would brighten my morning. I took these in my backyard a week or so ago with the NikonD3000 on auto.

Thanks for looking.

I’ve ordered Nikon D3000 for Dummies from Book Depository so maybe I will learn to use the Nikon. I did do a general online class with Shaw Academy when GoDaddy gave me a free course selection. I took lots of notes but didn’t follow through.  I’ve already downloaded Nikon D3000: From Snapshots to Great Shots to my Kindle but a digital book just isn’t the same as a real one. Out of sight, out of mind. I can leave the Dummies one on my coffee table and leaf through it until I know it backwards.

As with everything, only the doing will produce results!

Speaking of GoDaddy, I ditched  the author website with them when the renewal came up – it wasn’t doing anything, probably because I pretty much ignored it. I have a new .com website here with WordPress. More on that later when I get it going.

I hope you enjoy the bees as much as I do. All the best.  🙂

Cows ‘n Daisies

The paddocks by my house are thick with the yellow flowers of capeweed. Though we call them daisies, they are little sunflowers. They open and close with the sun and keep their faces turned to it.

I remember when you could taste the capeweed season in milk. I supposed the micromanagement of cow feed these days has removed the taint. As children, we made daisy chains. I can never recall so many different flowers in the paddocks, for there are more than daisies. There are other weeds and clovers flowering, too, amid lush spring grass.

Colour everywhere one looks. Even the weeds doused by the council are dying in various shades of red.  The little creek under the footbridge is flowing. Birds are building their nests and darting about, drunk on spring.

Thanks for looking. Do have a good day!

Skinks

Skinks are one of my favourite creatures. Here are some photos I took at the weekend with the Nikon D3000.

I expect these are the common Garden Skink. One kindly posed for me while I steadied the camera on a piece of wood. The others skurried into the wood pile.

Thanks for looking.
