Remember when I introduced Cassie last week?

I didn’t mention that she’d started (uncharacteristically) hissing at me. Now I know why.

You are getting my first look, too, for I had the camera with me.

I was sneaking into the backyard hoping to spot that blue-tongued lizard. I didn’t get that far for Cassie had brought these kittens out from under the bungalow.

Here they are again, after they’d been fed.

Their eyes are still blue and their gait unsteady. Later, when I fed them some minced chicken frames, I picked up the black-and-white one. It was okay with that, but I didn’t hold it too long. I then picked up the grey one and it screamed its head off! I had to unhook its little claws from my shirt before I could put it down. I’ve since read I should lay off the eye contact and just spend a little time talking softly to them.

Before Christmas, I’ll contact the vet to sort out the optimum time to bring them in next year. I mustn’t dally this time.

Thanks for looking.
