The Big Lobster. The first picture is from Wikipedia because I don’t have a proper front-on picture handy. Stands 17 metres tall and located Kingston S.E., South Australia. Known locally as Larry the Lobster.

I can’t believe I let myself be seen in public in that track suit! This must have been about 1992 or so.
For bigger pictures, as always, please click on the post title. 🙂
These large shapes are such fun! I hadn’t seen this one before.

I’ve seen it twice, I love it! I have another lot of photos from the first visit. Kingston SE is near Robe, one of those popular seaside resort towns. Sometimes, we travel the long way home from Adelaide via the coastal route through Mt Gambier and into Victoria. It adds a few hours onto the ten hour drive, so we usually stop somewhere overnight during the journey. Looking forward to seeing it again. You can see Larry towering over the trees as you approach. 🙂

That is one scary lobster. It could feed an army if it didn’t attack first.

That is AMAZING!!! A little scary, though – but amazing artistry nonetheless. If you so desire, check out the 40-foot bear at the following link (I think you would like it): http://denverconvention.com/about-us/public-art/i-see-what-you-mean/

Oh wow Angela! Many thanks for guiding me to that website. The Blue Bear is so amazing and how clever to have it peering inside the building like that. I ❤ it! 'I see what you mean' is a perfect name for the curious bear. I explored a little more and was amazed to learn of the laughing escalator. People are sure to get off that with a smile, if not a bemused expression. 😀 😀 😀

Awww! So glad I could entertain you for a while! 😀 I haven’t been there to see it for myself yet, but I plan to as my brother lives in Denver, Colorado where the big old bear is! I want to take my OWN pictures!!!
