I am catching up on Avian101’s blog, and while reading this past post about feathers (part 1) – I recalled this photo from my walk this morning. I expect it is from a sulphur-crested white cockatoo. It looks so delicate atop the crispy dead gum leaves.
It’s very possible. That feather has also abundant down. I wouldn’t know what other birds you have in that area of Australia. 🙂

Nothing else about snowy white like this I think, except for the cockatoos. It’s one of the insulating feathers, for sure, and an appropriate size. Thanks for dropping by HJ. 😀

The contrast between the dead gum leaves and the delicate, fluffy feather is very effective. It does look so lost – but very pretty. How lovely to be able to see cockatoos on a daily basis.

Thanks Millie. I never tire of seeing the cockies.

A lovely feather. Reminds me of Forrest Gump!

Forrest Gump? You’ll have to enlighten me, I’ve only watched that the once. A trippy phase?

Not really, but the opening and closing scenes showed him sitting on a bench watching a small white feather floating carelessly in front of him. Curiously feathers are my “thing” as my honorary Indian name is “Three Feathers”, or PachoFa.

Oh yes, I remember that now. Ahhhh, PachoFa! I must have read that on your blog, of course, but now I will remember “Three Feathers”. All the best Kayti. ❤
