Cockatoos and Galahs

Since the seed ran out so quick, I put out more … usually I only get three or four galahs at a time.

When I held the camera up higher, I got more colour … I’ll remember that next time … galahs aren’t as nervous as the cockatoos.

    Galahs aren’t as bright as the Cockies, all they care about is eating. You could probably flap your curtains around and they wouldn’t budge. Beautiful pictures.

  2. You got good shots but are welcome to those birds! We get the white cockies here, not sure if the same as yours, but they have the most raucous bird noise, and I think that next to a crow, the one I dislike the most.Used to see them in NSW on the sports oval and also the galahs digging away for their lunches. I prefer the smaller birds like the little blue tailed wrens and robins. But I do confess that although I love the bird song in the trees outside my unit I freak out if in enclosed places with a wing in sight!

    • Yours might be corellas, the’re a bit smaller, I think, but make just as much noise – they have a tiny bit of pink about their head and chest and have the same shortish crest like a galah.
      Trouble is, I can’t get decent pictures of my wrens and other small birds. (:

  4. I love the idea of these birds gathering so close. I’d want to make sure I had lots of seed for them as well. On the other hand, how often do you need to clean up their mess?
