Taken a week or so ago, hundreds of bees scooting around a clump of flowering grass.


Seriously, that is the name of this wonderful little beetle I found on the bricks out front: named for the two lines of white across his wings. Check out the bright orange eyes, the pink and black legs. 😮

Apparently they like to chomp on gum leaves, but I couldn’t find any more in the trees. Wouldn’t you know it, as soon as I started seeking out insects to snap, the blighters vanish! Crap photos, but hey – you don’t see one of these every day.
I took this photo a few days ago on the Nokia phone, wishing to capture the play of light over the jasmine blossom. It isn’t a perfumed jasmine, just a hardy version. I didn’t notice the fly until later.
