This walk, from the 26th July, is mainly birds and bunnies. We did walk to the Caledonia Gully Reservoir today, but I took nearly 100 photos on our 7 km and I was too pooped to sort them.  This one is a shorter walk, barely a kilometre, close to home.

First, just over the footbridge, I checked a low lying wattle for bees. Saw a fly, first.

Not many bees, though. And it is more on the clover than on the wattle blossom.

While walking up Argyle Street, the sticky beak cockatoo checked on us.

Wednesday Walk

Birds ‘n Bunnies

Image

This walk was a week ago now, last Thursday – oops, I’ve owned up I’m late with this walk post – we ended up covering new ground and the best part of eight kilometres.

Off over the footbridge and at some stage turned left and then right into Argyle Street, where a magpie kindly landed in a tree near the merino sheep’s paddock, posing briefly.

Of course, on any walk, I don’t know how many photos I’ll end up with. This post has a lot, and I’m sorry, but we’re stuck with the blue background.

Continuing on, past the concrete kangaroo fence, up over the hill where I check wattle trees for bees. Just a few could be seen. Continue reading

Wednesday Walk

A long forest walk

Image

We saw lots of kangaroos on this walk, done 13th July.  We headed straight up the lane to the forest, direct, thus taking the main loop in the anti-clockwise direction. I didn’t take pics of the cows first, and there wasn’t a ‘roo to be seen in the farmland behind our place. Found them lazing near the forest, on the farm between it and the vineyard. (Nikon D3000 DSLR)

The mob dispersed, the closer we got to them.  I noticed some huge males which seemed to shepherd them into the vineyard. The vineyard is split in two, and they use that gap as their thoroughfare.

We continued on, past the alpacas.

By now, the kangaroos had crossed over into the farmland on the other side of the vineyard, across Barri’s Lane. There were some big male kangaroos.

The one in the foreground got up to have a look at us, walking the lane, but promptly lay down again.

Fast-moving clouds made the landscape change colours every second. It was very windy. Continue reading
