On my fence.

And the show goes on.

I make a movement, and they’re off, but not for long, one comes back

some won’t bother coming back, but the regulars will, even though they obviously suspect I’m still there behind the flimsy net curtain

Nokia Lumia 530 windows phone, cropped, quality reduced. Images will enlarge if you click on them. On my PC, a second click gets them almost filling my screen. Hope you enjoyed seeing the cockatoos again, so soon.

Have a good day.  🙂

Cockatoos galore.

About ten birds turned up. Some jostled for position on the fence, others stayed in the gum-tree.cockie1

cockie5I think the cockatoo in the middle is one of our usual visitors, from the proprietary stance. Now,  I discourage too many birds hanging about, so I didn’t hesitate to get closer to the window. I shoved the camera through the gap in the netting and off they went. The  two in the gum-tree were hardly fazed.

cockie4It wasn’t long before our regular bird came back. I waited, Nokia in prime position pressed to the window pane.

cockie2But  my finger moved of course, pressing the button … and they were all off across the road this time. I love this one of the three in various stages of flight.

cockie3Mr R says it is about time we invested in a decent water container, instead of using a margarine tub. I reckon he is right.  😀

Sulphur-crested Cockatoos

Two sulphur-crested cockatoos visited yesterday, and one today.  These three often fly around together, but rarely seem to feed at the same time. One might be in a nearby tree keeping watch and will arrive on his own.  The main flocks will be out in the vineyards at this time of the year, or in home orchards.

The last two days have been heavily overcast, and it is late in the day, washing out the colour.

Despite the single cockie spotting me instantly, I managed to creep across the room to take the last three photos without startling it into flight. The overhead light was on and the result  would be improved if only I had thought to turn it off.

We are looking at these birds through my lounge window – and a net curtain. They are sitting on my front fence eating birdseed. Click on any picture and it will take you to the gallery for bigger images.
