The trouble with long walks, when I take the camera, is choosing which photos to share with you. Most of the time, I end up choosing just one aspect, and all the other lovely experiences I’ve had go unused. So, in the interests of me sticking to some sort of routine with this blog, I’ve decided to share the best walk I have each week – posting Wednesdays. (Wednesday Walk?)  This first took place last Sunday, on a lovely Autumn afternoon, the Nikon around my neck (complete with the bloody SD card which I’d forgotten – yet again! – the day before). As always, when going down the side lane, I take a picture of the cows, regardless. A-L-W-A-Y-S.

Since I’m posting lots of photos, I’ve added a ‘see more’ line here, but I can’t tell if it will work. Continue reading

A long walk…

The jacky winter is one of those birds that I never recognise until it’s flying away, and then it’s the side white tail feathers that give it away.  It belongs to the Australian robin and flycatcher family. According to Wikipedia, other vernacular names are brown flycatcher, peter peter, postboy, spinks and stumpbird.

Jacky winter and peter peter are are names derived from its call.

I spotted this jacky winter on the return journey of my inaugural walk with Mr R. Now, though we’ve walked together numerous times, mainly while away from home, this was the first time we’ve headed off for deliberate exercise. We’ve now managed 3 out of the last 4 days, with one walk covering about five kilometres! We live on a cross-roads, so can take a different direction each day, with more variables along each road.

Thanks for looking. Stay safe.

The grass is dying off, but the deciduous trees are leafing up nicely. That’s the Grevillea bush left front. It’s a wonderful walk along this service road.   (Nokia Lumia 530 windows phone, on auto)

I’m being very lazy today. I read too late last night. Saving my energy for the bit of work I have to do. Tomorrow is anew day. Oh – speaking of tomorrow – I reverted my tagline back to the original one.   🙂
