Old wheel, wild oats, other dead weeds – gray-scaled (Nokia Lumia 530 Windows Phone)

Down at the footbridge, the wild belladonna lilies put on a good showing last season. When the first green leaves popped from the ground, I took a trowel on my walk and brought home bulbs for my garden. Only one bulb flowered for me.

Now, the strappy leaves of the belladonnas are spouting again. Someone, with grander schemes than mine, has halved the clumps.

My stolen bulbs are sprouting, too, so I reckon I can expect more flowers in season.

Sally D has some wonderfully textured palms and succulents in her B&W images.

Thanks for looking. It’s good to be back blogging and I will get around to visiting you all over the coming weeks. I know I can’t hope to catch up on all I’ve missed, but I will endevour to keep up this time and not let writing interfere as much.

Time management is the key!

Do have a great weekend.  🙂

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: B&W

Bees & Bugs, Sally D's Mobile Photography Challenge

A B&W Bee for Sally D’s Mobile Challenge

I’m wanting to get back to my favourite photo challenges this year, and also attempt some haiku once my revision frenzy is over.

To this end, I took this photograph for Sally D’s challenge with the Nokia Lumia 520 Windows Phone – both versions are cropped and processed in GIMP. I had intended it for nature week, but black-and-white week is already here!

Sally D has an incredible photo again – Afternoon Light and Leaf Photomontage – and she has some clever word pictures to go along with it. The montage is best viewed full size.

Thanks for looking. Have a great week!

A Daily Walk in Greyscale

I’m sharing these photos for Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Black and White
On her blog, Sally shares two fascinating examples of street art.

Here are some of the sensory moments I have each day when walking Vika. Changing the images to B&W breaks them down to the basic elements capturing my attention.

The feature photo shows flowering clover and belladonna straps, down by the footbridge at the end of our service road.

The light play on clover flower stalks intrigued me for weeks.

And Vika says what the heck are you doing down there! She waits patiently.

Thanks for looking. Do have a good day.  🙂
